About Us
Thank you for visiting the Auburn Association of Educational Office Professionals website! AAEOP Organized a Community-Service Project to Benefit Auburn Food Bank At AAEOP's general-membership meeting (in October) members collected non-perishable food (human or pet) and toiletry items for the Auburn Food Bank. This is a special way for AAEOP members to make a difference in the community! Typically, when AAEOP holds a food and/or toiletries drive, donations go directly to a local food bank for distribution. Continuing Education--A Priority for AAEOP The association and its members place high value on life-long learning. The workshop committee schedules training for members (often non-members are welcome to attend as well) throughout the year; however, one of the greatest statements about our belief in continuing education is through scholarships we award annually. For AAEOP members, professional involvement and development may mean serving on a committee or as an officer; taking a class; or attending a workshop, meeting, or AAEOP social function. Regardless of which of these things matches the member's definition of involvement, that person is encouraged to consider that whether or not they have made a step on the journey to professional development this year or not, and they can take a step today! Members may look at the list of opportunities being offered by AAEOP (and/or WAEOP and NAEOP) and decide to take action and be actively involved in these professional associations. It is never too late to "put your best foot forward" and AAEOP members are encouraged to be a member of the state and national professional associations (membership form available here). Check out the events page (or the recap of events page) to see how AAEOP members are involved in the associations established exclusively for educational office professionals.
AAEOP (as a professional association) provides support, recognition, leadership, service, and educational opportunities for 93 educational office professionals in the Auburn School District. AAEOP awards at least four scholarships annually--providing continuing education opportunities for local graduating seniors as well as educational office professionals. Involvement in, and support of, activities in communities served by the Auburn School District is important to AAEOP members. As you peruse our site, be sure you check out the community interest page for a glimpse of some of the activities happening in this area.
AAEOP is affiliated with WAEOP and NAEOP (the Washington and National Association of Educational Office Professionals). For purposes of negotiating contractual issues with the Auburn School District, AAEOP has engaged the expert services of Public School Employees (PSE) of Washington.
The AAEOP executive board is comprised of president (or co-president team), vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. Several committee chairs, along with their committee members, provide essential support of association activities and outreach within the community. If you would like to know more about AAEOP and/or any projects currently "in the works," please contact any member of the board (Co-President, Deyanna or Laurali; Vice-president, Pam; Secretary, Arlista; or Treasurer, Deonna).
Watch for information about AAEOP's next community-involvement project.
Fundraising activities, along with direct contributions, make it possible for AAEOP to award four student scholarships and one member scholarship each year. Click here to contact Sandi (2011-12 fundraising committee chair), or contact her by phone at 253-804-5161, for information about upcoming fundraising events and/or to make a donation to the scholarship/continuing education fund.
What's already in the planning phase? Sandi and her fundraising committee members hosted the ever-popular AAEOP Shop 'til You Drop (November 19) and the committee is now working on Bunco Night! For all you Bunco fans, AAEOP will hoste Bunco Night March 16, 2012. Last year's Bunco night was a resounding success. . . we look forward to making sure participants have just as much (or more. . . if that's possible) fun this year as they did last year. Growing Professionally and Personally with AAEOP
The state-level association offers several learning events throughout the year--members choose to attend Spring Conference, Leadership Training, and/or one of several Professional Development Program workshops offered throughout the state. PDP workshops are generally hosted by an area director (Auburn is in area 7, Deyanna King has been elected to serve as WAEOP's Area 7 Director). Area directors host at least one workshop in their area annually. These PDP workshops help assure WAEOP members of at least one workshop close to home each year. The local and state executive board and continuing education committee leaders welcome ideas for workshops. If you would like to make a suggestion for an educational offering in area 7, contact Deyanna King. . . or one for AAEOP, contact Pam Craft.
Educational office professionals may join the state-level professional association (WAEOP) for only $35 per year. AAEOP members may request tuition reimbursement for WAEOP dues. . . so. . . this translates into, "you can be a WAEOP member. . . FREE!" Click here to access a membership form or visit the WAEOP website to download a form. When submitting your membership form, indicate that you were referred through (recruited by) the AAEOP website.
